Thanks for your past business!
At this time, we have decided to not
take any more orders until further notice. |

Counting Your Money
Count your money after the sale inside your house (away from
public view). If you had more than one person acting as
a cashier, have each person count the money they collected
and write down the total before mixing it together.
Go through the sale record and total the amount of money
that was supposed to be collected. Compare this amount
with the total of the money actually collected and see
if they match. Resolve any differences to everyone's satisfaction. If
you held a multi-family sale with a common cashier, distribute
the money to each family based on the dollar amount of
their items that actually sold.

Cleaning Up
Once your sale is over, it is a courtesy to all your neighbors
to promptly clean up. You may also be required by a local
ordinance to remove your signs within a certain amount
of time after your sale has ended.
Remove every sign that was put up advertising your
sale. It is a good idea to make a map of all sign locations
before you put them up so that you can be sure of getting
them all when you take them down.

Unsold items that you want to try and sell at your next
sale should be packed in such a way that it will be easy
for you to get them out when that time comes. Group similar
items in the same box and write what is in it on the outside
of the box. This way, when you get the stuff out the next
time, it will already be sorted for you.

Disposing of Unsold Items
Throw away items that really are trash. Give away items to your
favorite charity that could really help someone out. Remember
- "He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord"
(Proverbs 19:17 - NIV).
If you had an early bird that was interested in an item that
didn't sell, give them a call and see if they are still
interested in buying it (assuming you remembered to get
their contact information before they left your sale).
Sometimes someone will come at the end of your sale and
make you an offer on everything that is left over. The
offer is usually a very low amount, but you may want to
sell the stuff to them rather than carry it inside, put
it in the trash, pack it up, etc.
